Reviewer Comments: ‘Holy hell. She’d undone Pride and Prejudice!’ thinks Flip (Phillipa) as she talks to the lady who allowed her to imagine herself in any book as she was being massaged. Then she has to work out how to change the story to its original storyline.
Phillipa and her bookclub are going to reread Pride and Prejudice and Phillipa decides to have a relaxing massage where she inadvertently changes an historic text beginning with a first edition. Magnus Knightley, a world renowned scholar on Jane Austen, is curious at Phillipa’s desperation to look at the first edition. He then reads his second edition copy and notes some changes. He then follows Phillipa back to the time of Lizzy Bennett and Darcy, where they take on different characters in an effort to get Lizzy and Darcy together. Added to this mix is Phillipa’s egotistical ex-husband and his obsessive college girl of the moment.
Changing a much beloved story can be fraught with dangers for any author as the characters are well known and have captured the imagination of readers, as is the case with Pride and Prejudice.
I really enjoyed reading this book by Ms Cready. It was fun and it was sexy. There is such a mix of coincidence and attraction to keep the reader reading page after page. There are even the small incidences that will make you laugh. All I can say is poison ivy and watch the lingering effects of this on Io, the college girl. The characters are allowed to make mistakes and this enhances their believability. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
